Home to Ealing Trailfinders Rugby Club, the new 3,184-square metre indoor rugby training facility features a full-size junior rugby and football pitch, allowing players to continue training safely in adverse weather conditions.
Funded privately by The Mike Gooley Trailfinders Charity, the facility will also be used by Ealing Trailfinders Cricket Club and features three indoor cricket lanes with a viewing balcony, allowing both the club and community an opportunity to train all year round.
The building was handed over and was followed by an official opening event attended by Sir Andrew Strauss, Sir Mike Gooley, club members, the local community, and the project team.
Shaun Justice, of Trailfinders Sports Club, said: “We are delighted with this new wonderful facility and our domestic clubs and local community schools, clubs and societies are loving using it. Feedback from existing and new users is incredibly positive and it is proving to be every bit as good as we hoped and more.”
Robert Duxbury, managing director at Collinson, said: “It’s been great to see this project coming together and to now see the look on people’s faces when they step inside and see it for the first time.
“Not only does it strengthen Ealing Trailfinders as a club and support their aspirations to progress, it also provides a great opportunity for people locally, especially youngsters, to experience top quality sports facilities.”
As well as the covered pitch, the project also features ancillary buildings that accommodate new changing facilities and office space. This was delivered with modular units manufactured by Collinson at its Lancashire-based modular manufacturing facility.
Robert added: “What’s been particularly pleasing for us about this project is using all of our areas of expertise, blending modular, traditional and tensile building techniques to create a stunning facility for our client. To have seen the modular units take shape on our production line in Lancashire and to now be walking into the completed building here in Ealing really demonstrates the power of modular construction.”
